About Author

Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Teheran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father's backpack.

After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and tabloids, reporting on Brad and Angelina's world travel and Britney Spears' wardrobe. She started writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006.

Cassandra counts favourite authors Stephanie Meyer and Holly Black among her many thousands of fans who are based all around the world. As well as The Mortal Instruments series, Cassie is well known for her Harry Potter fan fiction series and the internet parody of The Lord of the Rings - The Very Secret Diaries.

A regular on the American and Australian bestseller lists, Cassandra is a major talent in urban fantasy writing. The Mortal Instruments is inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. City of Bones, City of Ashes and the new and final instalment, City of Glass form a powerful sequence and introduce a dangerous world of angels and vampires, family secrets and forbidden love. Cassie's new trilogy will be set in London and launches next year.
