Association of Senior Children's and Education Librarians (ASCEL)
A national membership network of children's and education librarians. A national committee and 12 regional committees work with national and local organisations to promote the value of library services for children. Members have access to training, an annual conference, regular newsletters, and a members' website.
Opening the Book
Opening the Book focuses on reader development. It produces resources and has a programme of courses to help library professionals reach out to new readers.
School Library Association
The SLA supports the development of school libraries - primary and secondary. It publishes guidance documents, promotes good practice and operates a register of recommended consultants and trainers to support school library development.
The Reading Agency
The Reading Agency supports libraries, helping develop new partnerships, pilot models and research initiatives. It covers reading development activity for both adults and children and offers training to school as well as public librarians. Its initiatives include: YouthBoox; Chatterbooks; Summer Reading Challenge; and Their Reading Futures.
