Synopsis
A hilariously anarchic tale from the inimitable Andy Stanton, author of Mr Gum, and much loved illustrator Neal Layton.
Can a boy drink the sea? Surely it's impossible! But Danny McGee does just that - and now he has his sights on other things. Soon he's swallowing trees, flies, fleas, peas, mountains ... where will it end?!
Andy Stanton has won a string of awards for his Mr Gum books, including the Red House Children's Book Award, the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, and the Blue Peter Book Award for Best Book With Pictures.
Neal Layton is the multi-award-winning illustrator of the Emily Brown books.

Andy Stanton has written an interesting and engaging story about Danny McGee's adventure eating the world around him. The story is written in attractive rhyming couplets which help create a fun and responding rhythm to the story. This kind of story is really fun to read with younger children as they predict the final word of the line. Danny McGee created lots of giggles along the way and Neal Layton's excellent illustrations create a very exciting visual. I especially liked the way he combined real life photos with drawn illustrations. I enjoyed reading this story up until the end, which I did find rather abrupt and silly! This book was a sweet bedtime read, and got a lot of predictive response from my son, but I'm not sure this is one we'd pick up lots in the future.
