Gail is not an ordinary snail. She stands out from all the other snails and set her heart on going to space! Snail in Space is a fun, motivating celebration of believing in yourself, which encourages the reader to never give up, and to reach for the stars.

From her grassy home, over hills and mountain tops, Gail makes it to space camp, into a rocket and finally blasts off into space. While reading this book out loud, it was easy to get into an engaging rhythm as the sentences rhyme and flow. The illustrations are colourful, bold and humorous, and had my daughter pointing to and laughing at the them. We love the hardback front cover, with its holographic lettering and cute picture of Gail looking extremely pleased with herself.

I will use this book next year with younger classes during phonics lessons (introducing the letter 's') as well as for spotting rhyming words. There is lots of potential to link in with Health and Wellbeing topics including 'being unique' and 'trying your best'. Overall, a great book for at home or in an Early Years classroom.
