The Snow Lion centers around a young girl called Caro who has relocated to a new home and new town with her mum. Understandably, Caro is feeling a mix of emotions as she tries to settle in a place where she doesn't know anyone. Then one day, whilst exploring the house further, Caro hears a deep and gentle voice. The voice of a lion who was as white as snow. Over the coming day, Caro and the lion develop a strong and true friendship full of care, compassion and guidance. In between games of hide and seek and chase, the lion encourages Caro to visit the nearby park. Despite being reluctant to do so, Caro went to the park and found Bobby - a local boy. Soon Caro and Bobby become friends and soon enough, Caro becomes friends with the other local children, all under the watchful eye of the lion. This lovely text will relate to the feelings and experiences of many children and adults who read it. The underlying themes of fear and courage are exquisitely negotiated and supported by the wonderful illustrations of Richard Jones. There is an air of innocence around it that lures you in and comforts you, even as a grown adult. The perfect resource for primary schools looking for a supportive text around change.
