Dave and Skipper are up to their old tricks again in another pigeontastic adventure! The nice human lady who took them in after Dave's wing was broken by her mean cat, in book one, has gone on holiday. Dave and Skipper are confused as to whether she will ever return and determine to find themselves a new owner, plus they miss the daily offerings of bread and biscuits! They discount several homes in the neighbourhood which have either too many cats, or too much competition from little people for biscuits, and finally decide on a home which at first appears very welcoming. The home belongs to the rather strange Reginold Grimster, a man who wears tiny umbrellas on his shoulders. He seems to be expecting the pigeons and has both bird houses and birdseed waiting for them. It's not croissants and chocolate biscuits but Dave is very happy indeed. However, Skipper is not, as it all appears too good to be true. Uncomfortable in their new home, Skipper goes investigating. He discovers that Reginold Grimster's home is housing hundreds of pigeons all waiting to be turned into pigeon nuggets! It turns out that the house is under surveillance by I-PLOP (the International Police Legion of Pigeons) an elite team of top secret pigeon spies, and Skipper agrees to help them launch a daring plan to rescue Dave! The adventure ends in a nail biting, claw curling pigeon showdown with hilarious consequences. Another brilliant book by writing and illustrating team Swapna Haddow and Sheena Dempsey. Bantering duo Dave and Skipper are funnier then ever! If you enjoyed the first book then you will love this adventure packed, side splitting sequel. 176 pages / Ages 7+ / Reviewed by Emily Beale, school librarian.
