I read this book to a class of 30 reception children who were excited by the front cover and who the characters were. The children liked joining in with the game of I spy, and laughed out loud at the ending! It definitely has some funny moments and some very colourful characters with a sense of fun, which is what all the children liked. Banana was definitely their favourite character in the book.
It is a simple story but with a clear message for younger children. As one boy said at the end of the story, "Friendship is much more important than gold and jewels!"
