Another fantastic tale from one of my favourite children's authors. Percy's Bumpy Ride is another huge success from this world famous author, with humorous but heart-warming tale of love, compassion and friendship. If you have not purchase a 'Percy the Park Keeper' tale before, put it on your next purchase list as it will not disappoint. In this tale, Percy is busy in his shed tinkering away at something. All of the park animals are intrigued by what he doing, when suddenly Percy comes out in a new lawn mower that will 'just fly around the park'. The lawn mower has a large engine, a comfy armchair and a propeller on top to 'to fan me with cool air while I'm mowing'. All the animals are keen to join Percy and they all set off to try it out. But all of a sudden the propeller is too efficient and they take to the skies. They animals delight at flying in the new machine when it all begins to fail. Thanks to some helpful sheep, Percy and the Park Keeper, animals land safely and Percy finds a new way of mowing the lawn - the sheep! Not only is this story an engaging tale full of excitement and fun, the illustrations truly bring this tale to life. The Park animals are so animated, they look almost human and it is easy for young children to follow the story based on the images alone. The artistry is bright, colourful and beautifully hand drawn, my children took great delight in picking out all the little details in the images. This book also has a secret feature which made my children squeal with delight - the pull out large illustration in the middle of the book. The level of detail is so realistic with pastoral colours; this has fast become a favourite 'go to' story in our house. Perfect for parents and teachers alike, this story is an absolute must for every book shelf. Picture book / Ages 3+ / Reviewed by Joanna Hewish, teacher
