Alison

Trevor Millum and Bernard Young's The Poetry Guide, A 'How to' Guide for Teachers and Librarians is not the fanciest book ever but its rather unpromising appearance belies rich content. Everything you need is here: getting going, editing, using figurative language, reading aloud, performing, publishing...

I particularly enjoyed the 'How to turn poetry into Funetry' section with its creative suggestions for finding and displaying poetry (in chalk on the playground, on stretched out till rolls). It's practical and infused with enthusiasm for poetry. As Ian McMillan says, this is 'absolutely essential reading'.
