This guide to the Netflix animated series Unicorn Academy will appeal to any fan of the series. Focused on characters, not episodes or the world as a whole, it includes outlines of each main character and their unicorns, as well as the teachers, the villains, and the magical creatures who inhabit the world. Brightly illustrated throughout with art from the programme and fact files about the characters including details about their personality, special abilities, likes and dislikes this is a vibrant companion title.

The series, which was first shown on Netflix in 2023, is based on the set of 20 books of the same name written by Julie Sykes and Linda Chapman, who have also created the series Mermaid Academy, and follows a group of students learning how to develop their magical abilities and become unicorn riders. Fans of the original chapter books may be interested in comparing it with the TV series but I think this title will appeal mostly to those who enjoy the show, which might be a limited audience considering it is only shown on Netflix.
