Synopsis
Virginia was a tyrant, a bully and a brat, who was rude to sweet old ladies, and tormented next door's cat.
Then one day the doorbell rings and Virginia meets Julian. Her mother calls him an angel and insists he share Virginia's room, but Virginia has never shared in her life! Obviously, Julian must go. But perhaps he's not quite as angelic as he first appears. . . .
With gloriously gothic illustrations from bestselling Chris Mould, and a hair-raising twist, this fabulously dark tale is perfect for parents looking for the picture book equivalent of Roald Dahl's twisted tales.

Vile Virginia and the Curse that Got Worse is an absolute block buster of a picture book. The rhythmical rhyming text guides you through this wonderful tale of what happens when Vile Virginia meets her match in Angelic Julian. Children and adults alike will love the poetic justice delivered throughout the relatable story.
This would be a wonderful text to encourage young writers' imaginations. I can imagine many interesting discussions regarding what else Virginia could try to 'get rid' of Julian or how could she change back to a girl after she is changed into the rabbit. Discussions about character's feeling throughout the story and how they would change as the narrative develops. The illustrations hold so much additional detail and add to the story, the characters' emotions and comical element. This is a must read book which I know I will enjoy sharing with Primary pupils of all ages.
