Darkmouth, the fantasy adventure series by Irish author Shane Hegarty (HarperCollins Children's Books), has come one step closer to being made into an animated film with the appointment of two directors to the project.

Darkmouth tells the story of the last town on Earth where monsters (known as Legends) still invade. Finn, the 12-year-old son of the last remaining Legend Hunter, must follow in his father's footsteps and prepare for an epic battle to defeat the Legends as their terrifying leader plans a major attack on Earth. Unfortunately, Finn is one of the worst Legend Hunters in history. Directors David Pimentel and Douglas Sweetland will direct the movie, based on the adapted screenplay to be penned by Lloyd Taylor. The Darkmouth movie is a comedic animated fantasy about an overeager kid who bites off more than he can chew when he prematurely jumps into the family business: hunting monsters. There are now three books in the series published by HarperCollins Children's Books - Darkmouth: The Legends Begin, Worlds Explode and Chaos Descends. A release date for the movie has not yet been given.
