Share a Story on World Book Day!

World Book Day on 1st March is the perfect time to share stories and the #ShareAStory campaign is encouraging parents, carers, siblings and friends to read to one another on World Book Day.

The aim of the campaign is to highlight the importance of spending just ten minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children and young people. You can share what you're reading on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter using #ShareAStory. Schools and Nurseries can download resource packs for ideas of how to share stories. You could also: - Invite parents and carers in for a storytelling session with hot chocolate and your childs favourite teddy - Hold Share a Story sessions in classes, with older children reading to younger children or pupils sharing their favourite story with the rest of the class - Invite grandparents or other special guests in to be surprise story tellers - Create book borrowing boxes - Put up Share A Story posters around your school or nursery to encourage people to join in - Start book clubs at lunch or after school - Host a book-special breakfast club - Get parents involved hand out World Book Day's Share A Story For 10 Minutes Today letters explaining the crucial difference sharing a story for just 10 minutes a day can have on their child's future and encourage them to start the habit now with fun ideas and top tips from expert storytellers - Make some noise about books and join in with BookClubbing encourage students to launch their own YA Book Club, get them sharing the books they love using #ShareAStory or run your own poll in school to find their top reads
