World Book Day has launched a campaign for teenagers called Reading is Power, encouraging them to get involved in reading through its new online resource, ReadioTV.

World Book Day describes ReadioTV as 'a book review show for young people, run by young people, where they discuss their favourite and most significant books'. Young people can get involved by creating their own ReadioTV episodes on their smartphones or school AV equipment, which can be sent to World Book Day to host on the new (WBD-run) ReadioTV Instagram channel. Schools can also create their own Reading is Power manifesto - What do books and reading mean to your students? Assembly plans and guidelines for how to use ReadioTV are available via the link, below, and the site also offers ten book extracts to help with students' contributions. On World Book Day itself, Thursday 7 March, you can tweet/post the books which have had the biggest impact on you and your students growing up, using #readingispower. And, of course, encourage students to use their 1 book tokens to get one of 2019's brilliant YA World Book Day books - Nought Forever (Malorie Blackman) or Snap (Patrice Lawrence) for free at their local bookshop or supermarket.
