Blast off into space with this delightful picture book by David Fickling & Richard Collingridge. 'Tiny Little Rocket' will pilot you to the stars in style. Imagine a cozy ship made of solid silver and gold shooting through space, whizzing past the sun and the other planets of our solar system. Gentle hums and clicks reassure the pilot, lights flash on the dashboard, levers ignite the rocket boosters. A huge meteor threatens to knock the Little Rocket off course but careful steering sets the tiny ship back on track, to home, the third planet from the sun. This Tiny Little Rocket is on a very special mission, a mission to deliver a special happy birthday banner to planet earth. This out-of-this-world adventure is the perfect way to celebrate the birth of our planet. Whilst nobody actually knows the real birth date of the Earth, it is generally agreed that our planet is around 4.5 billion years old - definitely something to celebrate! Tiny Little Rocket has been stunningly illustrated; a real visual treat. Richard Collingridge uses 'white space' beautifully to demonstrate the vastness of space when compared to the size of the rocket. The graphic images will certainly appeal to young and old. David Fickling uses rhyming prose to tell the story of the little ship as it rockets through space. This book will certainly become a favourite for budding astronauts and those young children fascinated by space. Picture book / Ages 3+ / Reviewed by Emily Beale, school librarian.
