About Author

Alex Milway was born in Hereford in 1978. After leaving school at 16, he studied art in Shrewsbury and then at Cheltenham art college, where he won a David Murray Landscape Award from the Royal Academy.
These days he lives in London with his girlfriend and a curly-haired cat called Milo. He works in magazine publishing, where he discovered his love of writing and he now combines writing and illustrating wherever possible, including on his own fairy tale blog, Old Hokey's Whimsical Tales. One day he started doodling mice and writing short stories about them and these eventually came together as his first children's book, The Mousehunter.

Here are some more of Alex's likes and dislikes:

- He likes growing strange coloured vegetables - purple peas being the most popular
- He loves cartoons - particularly the films of Hayao Miyazaki, such as Castle in the Sky.
- He owns a green camper van
- His favourite colour is sky blue (cerulean!)
- If he wasn't a writer he'd be quite happy working in a cafe making fancy coffees for people.
