Synopsis

Kenny is on a journey of discovery! He likes riding his bike, the colour purple and, best of all, his dog, Ketchup. Is there anyone else in the world like him?  Making friends, favourite foods, dreaming big - Kenny thinks about all the things he likes, and on the way he meets lots of friends and discovers fun things about them.

Full of interesting details about today's world, A Book of People Like Me is told in a naturally inclusive way with richly coloured illustrations from a rising star in children's books. This inspiring story helps young readers think about identity and belonging and celebrates all the little things that bring people together.

Reviews

Jen

Kenny is an amazing little boy but is there anyone in the world just like him? Through the pages of this book Kenny learns that there are lots of people who like and do the same things as him but there is only one Kenny.

A Book of People Like Me was an instant hit in my house. I must have read it at least five times on the first day I got the book and many many times since then. My son (two) loves Kenny and his dog Ketchup. He now can read (remember) parts of the story independently. If you are reading the book to him he will finish the sentences. I have also found him with the book and he is telling himself the story using the pictures.

My daughter (eight) and my son understand the message of the book and we have talked about how there are lots of people like us but we are the only one of us. We have also talked about being proud of who we are just as Kenny seems to be proud of his identity.

A Book of People Like Me is a fantastic book to read to children and introduce the ideas of personal identity and being ok with not being the same as others. It will be treasured in my house for many years to come.
