A rhyming text and vibrant illustrations are appealing to young readers and this book was a popular choice with a group of 6 to 7-year-olds. This book supports rhyme and language with children able to join in with the text and predict with the support of the illustrations what happens next.
In A Home for Stone, a little boy finds a stone, a sad stone, and embarks on a journey to find a home for this special stone. This is a beautiful book full of kindness as the little boy tries so hard to find a home for stone and then realises that stone should have a home with him. This would be a good choice to explore kindness and empathy through the eyes of stone, and the importance of belonging.
A Home for Stone was a huge hit and was given 5 stars. We thought the end papers were gorgeous, too!
