A heart warming story in which Maya finds herself transported back into historical London Thameside. There, Maya meets a friend called Eddie who shows her the sights of the Winter Frost Fair. Maya and Eddie have a deeper connection than they may first realise and Maya realises her dream may be real after all!

This book would make a beautiful read together book for bedtimes, a good independent read for developing readers or a really lovely gift for boys and girls alike. It would suit children of 7+ as an independent story but would make a lovely shared read for younger children. The illustrations are charming and capture both modern and historical London entwined.

It wasn’t until reading this book I understood the versatility of Emma Carrol. The sights and smells that Maya and Eddie experience at the fair could support some wonderful setting description work in the classroom and create some wonderful opportunities for drama in a Key Stage 1 classroom.
