A Ticket to Kalamazoo! is an absolutely delightful collection of poems for the younger reader. It's beautifully designed and illustrated with large, clear text that is sometimes linear and sometimes fitted to the shape of the subject - the Alien poem is a great starting point for inspiring young poets to be creative with their work. The pages are bright and colourful and the pictures are charming.

The poems are intended to be read aloud, and the fantastical subjects of each one will make children smile and laugh and join in with repeated refrains. Find out what it's like to ride an elephant, as you sway to the rhythm of the words, discover what a bug hotel is really for, spend a day in the life of a wild bear....and finally plan where to visit next once you've experienced all the delights of Kalamazoo.

This book is a clear winner for any infant library or classroom bookshelf. As part of a unit on poetry, this book will be returned to again and again for inspiration and for anytime a quick five minute poetry dip-in is needed.
