Well I have to admit, Antarctica: The Melting Continent was a bit of a surprise. I was expecting to open it to find a non-fiction book, however, the author Karen Romana Young has very cleverly woven a multitude of facts in amongst her interviews and experiences on the icy continent. So alongside the fascinating narrative, there's a wealth of facts.

Itreally is two books rolled efficiently into one! Angela Hsieh's illustrations show the detail of wildlife, environment and people written about. We loved the Aurora Australis page about McMurdo Station and Scott base; we had been studying Scott's journey in geography. Recommended for ages 8+
