National Poetry Day is the biggest mass celebration of poetry in the UK and is a chance to encourage children and teenagers to discover poems they can enjoy for the rest of their lives!
More than 1.5 million people are expected to participate on the day through events, classroom activities or individuals writing poems at home.
This year's theme is 'Wonder' and the National Poetry website has a range of FREE classroom-ready worksheets and resources available, including downloadable posters and displays; Lesson plans and activity guides and Poems on the theme of Wonder
The teaching resources are approved by curriculum experts for ages 3 to 16+, and include a new workshop plan for students aged 14+, designed to fit into a lunch hour and be delivered by students themselves as part of the Young Poet Leaders programme.
