Change the Shape

'Change the Shape' is a book that certainly makes you think. I found myself lost within its instructions, determined to complete each challenge set for me. I could certainly see this book being enjoyed by individuals buy also by a whole class. In school, this book can be used for many reasons. Firstly, and most obviously, it can be used to reinforce knowledge of 2D shapes....some of which children may need support recognising. Each of the challenges requires the children to find a certain shape through a combination of turning, pulling, spinning and folding the flaps until the coloured shape has been discovered. This would also allow children to discuss imperative verbs and orally instructions. This book certainly isn't one to relax with before bed but more one to engage and stretch minds in a fun and unusual way. An interesting alternative to a traditional children's book.
