A fun, fact-filled book that aims to 'set the record straight', Don't call me a dinosaur follows Remi and Toucan as they travel back in time in search of dinosaurs. They define what a dinosaur is and then start searching. A catchy rhyming refrain gives their adventures some structure as they explore through forest, oceans and swamps, encountering creatures that look like dinosaurs at first glance . . . but actually are not!
Each of the creatures they come across has a great little fact file that explains why they're not dinosaurs, while the last pages are filled with different dinosaurs and an introduction to the three time periods in which dinosaurs lived. The illustrations are cartoon-like and engaging for children.
They say every day is a school day and there's certainly lots to learn on this book! I've definitely learned a few facts! Don't Call Me a Dinosaur! is a great choice for children who love dinosaurs or fact books, as well as for sharing in school, especially when learning about dinosaurs or classifying creatures.
