Synopsis

The first book in the ROARsome DRAGON REALM series for 9+ readers! Perfect for readers who love fantasy, magic, adventure and DRAGONS!

Deep within the mountain, a great creature stirred in its sleep. Its eyes rolled back in its head, and its wings jerked wide open...   When 12-year-old Billy Chan finds out his parents are sending him to a summer camp in middle-of-nowhere China he doesn't know what to expect. There he meets fellow campers Dylan, Charlotte and Ling-Fei and together they stumble upon an age-old secret: four powerful warrior dragons, hidden deep within the mountain behind the camp. They have been trapped since an epic battle with the Dragon of Death and need the children's help to set them free before terrible evil is unleashed on the earth. Billy and his friends must set off on a dangerous adventure that will take them to the heart of the Dragon Realm. But can they save the dragon and human worlds from destruction?

DRAGON MOUNTAIN is the first book in the DRAGON REALM series by Katie and Kevin Tsang. See also Dragon Legend, Dragon City, Dragon Rising, Dragon Destiny.

Billy Chan: surfer dude and self-confessed owner of 'great hair', is not all that impressed with the 'Improve your Mandarin' summer school that he has been sent to, even if it is set in China. Far away from his family and friends, he has major doubts as to the positives around this particular adventure. At the camp, the aged leader sets the children a number of tasks which enables them to be grouped - it is here that Billy meets his fellow team mates: the quick-talking Dylan, win-at-all-costs Charlotte, and the gentle (relative of the leader) Ling-Fei. Together they must form a bond to help them overcome the hurdles and challenges set on their course.

However, what the children do not know is that their bonding unleashes another link...a link to a deep, dark forgotten world. The combination of their hearts and innate strengths leads them on an adventure that none of them could have imagined before embarking on this trip: an adventure of dragons, mysteries, special bonds and dastardly doings. Can the children learn to work as a team and live up to the expectations put on them before the very worst thing happens?

For readers who have loved the Sam Wu series, also by Kevin and Katie Tsang, Dragon Mountain is a not-to-miss next step. This fast-paced, absorbing read throws readers into the realm of friendship, inner strengths and the magical world of dragons. Four individuals of very different backgrounds are forced to find a common link, to rely on relative strangers and to dig deep for each other in order to tackle the challenges set before them.

Katie and Kevin Tsang create child-centric characters that are absorbing, funny and yet still very endearing in all their unique ways. Recommended for age 7+, with links to friendship, difference, perseverance, tenacity, teamwork, and unique qualities.
