Alex is a dragon and now goes to a school for dragons. The evil Drak Midna is still at large and Alex and her friends need to try and stop him before he unleashes a war on humans. They travel to a magical place in Scotland, where dragons and humans work together, and there Alex finds a force possibly even more deadly than Drak Midna. Ancient demons are coming out and attacking the city and dark forces growing stronger. Who can Alex trust and can she even manage to be a proper dragon?

Dragonborn: The Twilight Child is the second book in the Dragonborn series and I think it is even better than the first one. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and it even made me cry! Alex is a deeply flawed heroine and that is probably why I like her so much. She isn't perfect and she makes mistakes and reacts as anyone would. The villain is evil and deliciously so, but the demons are possibly even more scary. Everyone is complex and the differing loyalties play out so well in this book.

I've always loved dragons, but some are definitely better than others and this book is one of the really good ones! There are lovely illustrations by Devin Elle Kurtz, both on the front cover, inside pages and end pages. Each chapter has a little drawing at the heading and the cover is just perfect.

Any reader aged nine plus who read the first book, will undoubtedly be anxious to read book two and it is always a joy when the sequel turns out to be so good. I'm looking forward to Book 3!
