Synopsis

Ella Jones saved the world from an eternity of darkness in Ella Jones vs the Sun Stealer. Now she must face the god Homados, who is hunting Hercules's famous shield. His plan is to throw the world into chaos by increasing battle-noise until it's unbearable for man.

The only thing that helps drown out the noise? Their own rage. Their fury. Their hate. As people come to realise this, they will begin to fight until the world descends into war and he, Homados, will grow more and more powerful.

Ella, blind for two years and used to filtering out noise around her to calmly navigate her surroundings, is the hero the world needs. Her quest - alongside her guide dog Miss Maisie, her best friend Finn, sister Poppy and a mysterious new kid at school, River - will see her journey to a remote island and encounter villains new and old...

Also in the series:  Ella Jones vs the Sun Stealer (book 1)

Ella Jones vs the Battle Noise is a wonderful adventure steeped in Greek Mythology. Ella Jones, once again, finds herself the only person who can pitch herself in a battle, this time against the Greek god Homados. With the Eye of Horus protecting her, her trusty dog Maisie guiding her, and her friends rooting for her, Ella takes on the ultimate challenge.

Lucy Edwards has created an adventure like no other. Her heroine is faced with the extra challenge of having lost her sight and through her, we experience the struggles that the author herself must have experienced - and the tenacity she has developed from these. Lucy opens the door into a world that most of us will never truly understand and shows us the strength and the possibilities that are there for her protagonist to take. With thought and an invaluable insight, she makes the sightless world of Ella one for us to share and admire. She also creates a rip-roaring adventure that will keep young readers on their toes as they roller-coaster through this gripping story.

Ella Jones vs the Battle Noise is an absolute must for all bookshelves. When we are looking for books on inclusion, Lucy Edwards's books must surely be there. A rare and wonderful insight into life without sight, celebrating all that can be done rather than focusing on what can't be. It's a book that is pitched perfectly for children to understand the difficulties and limitations whilst feeling compassion and awe for the main character.

The theme of friendship and hope runs throughout the pages, as does the need for the main character to remember that, despite her fierce independence, we can all use help from our friends at times. It celebrates the strength of unity and support.
