Synopsis
From New York Times bestselling Joanna Ho, of Eyes that Kiss in the Corners, and award-winning educator Liz Kleinrock comes a powerful companion picture book about adoption and family. A young girl who is a transracial adoptee learns to love her Asian eyes and finds familial connection and meaning through them, even though they look different from her parents'.
Her family bond is deep and their connection is filled with love. She wonders about her birth mom and comes to appreciate both her birth culture and her adopted family's culture, for even though they may seem very different, they are both a part of her, and that is what makes her beautiful. She learns to appreciate the differences in her family and celebrate them.
An Amazon Best Book of the Month for January 2024. "Ho now creates a beautiful book about family: what makes individuals and what connects us to one another. This book is a perfect addition to any children's shelf, whether aimed at families, adoption, multicultural stories, or topics of love and acceptance." -School Library Journal (starred review)

This special book starts with a family, a loving family full of love, kindness and sanctuary for a little girl who notices "No one in my family has eyes like mine". The words in the text paint a picture of love as the child recalls beautiful times with her mum and dad who have different eyes from hers, but an abundance of love and time for her. The little girl knows there is someone, somewhere because of the memories and trinkets that she has that remind her that she is loved by someone with eyes like hers.
Eyes That Weave the World's Wonders will tug at your heart strings and is a wonderful book to open discussions about different families and adoption.

In family photos, everyone matches, everyone except one. A little girl notices that she has different eyes. When her mum looks at her, mum's eyes are full of love and dreams. When they are both at Dad's favourite outdoor spot, his eyes shine bright. Sometimes, when things aren't going right, Dad's eyes tell her everything will be ok.
They are a family - a world of wonder shared. Love connects them all. But, the girl wonders, somewhere, is there someone with eyes the same as her? Her eyes shed tears, but also love. Even as she questions her history, the girl realises her eyes tell stories of the past and dreams of the future; they weave the world's wonders.
