This is a beautiful book! A fantastic story about how some of our favourite fairytale characters, including a brave knight, a pretty princess and a unicorn come to Frankie to ask her to help them hide from the witch. Frankie is delighted and quickly hurries everyone into position, leaving only herself to face the witch. We had lots of fun bringing this story to life and meeting each of the characters along the way. The delightful twist at the end left us all smiling and wanting more. Frankie is the fearless, kind girl we see in Greg Gormley's 'Fairy-tale Frankie and the Mermaid Escapade'. Frankie oozes determination and I find the children really relate to her character. The wonderful illustrations are bright, colourful and fun to share, we spent a long time examining the brilliant double page spread and retelling this exciting part of the story. The unicorn in the story definitely works as an added bonus as lots of children seem to be mad for these magical creatures at the moment. Children will enjoy this story as a fun way to spot key characters of fairy tales following any work done on features of fairy stories and traditional tales.
