Hedgehog's Balloon (A Percy the Park Keeper Story)

I absolutely adore that Percy the Park Keeper is still a prominent character known to this generation; just as he was in my childhood. He has been around for over 30 years now! Each and every one of the books in this collection is endlessly endearing and melts my heart each time I read them. Hedgehog's Balloon might just be my favourite one yet!

As you can probably imagine, hedgehogs and balloons aren't best paired together so I was immediately intrigued upon reading the title. Hedgehog is feeling rather disheartened by his failed attempts to enjoy the joys of having a balloon to hold. He loves the idea of having one but each time he tries, the balloon bursts on his pointed spines. If anyone can come up with an idea to make it possible for a hedgehog to enjoy the fun a balloon brings… it's Percy the Park Keeper!

Hedgehog's Balloon shows us the beauty of a simple act of kindness. It teaches us the power of helping another in need to bring us joy and happiness. I've appreciated reading this book to my child and reminiscing on times this collection was read to me as a little girl. This is the power of books- they connect us to memories we might otherwise have lost.
