This is a non-fiction book that tied in nicely with our Around the World topic in class. The book involves travelling around the world visiting peoples homes and yards to find out how they differ in each country. Each spread is narrated and written from the viewpoint of the household pet, which goes on to explain about the local environment and what it is like being a resident there. The illustrations are lovely and really add to the effectiveness of the book. They are detailed and allow children to find out more information without relying on the text. The range of vocabulary is great for extending children's understanding as they will be introduced to unfamiliar countries and places. This book could fit in with a unit around homes as well as travel. 40 pages / Ages 5-8 years / Reviewed by Kyle Matravers, teacher.
