Synopsis

We called it 'The Dulling'.   It had been creeping in for such a long time, and had started so gradually, that most people barely even noticed.  As the Dulling spread, people began to fight and isolate themselves from each other. Neighbours became enemies, friends became strangers, and soon all colour was drained from the world.  When the world is plagued with isolation and cursed to live without colour' it is up to a group of determined children to grow a seed of hope that will inspire everyone to come together and build a better future.  This timeless fable' from debut author Lucy Farfort' is sure to entrance and empower in equal measure.

In Our Hands is a beautifully illustrated picture book with a message of hope, unity and positivity that is so relevant and important for the younger generation to see right now. A vibrant, colourful world begins to fade to grey as 'The Dulling' spreads and all over the land; people seem to give up - "the people in charge shrugged their shoulders and said nothing could be done". But a small girl discovers "a grain of hope", plants it and growth and colour begin to flourish once again as others join her to tend to the seed.

This is a wonderful version of a simple yet powerful fable. The glorious colours of the story are full of joy and vibrancy, the narrative is gentle but full of resilience and the whole story feels appealing and moving. A lovely book I think children (and adults) will adore.
