Synopsis
Teddy is NOT a baby anymore. So why won't his family stop fussing over him? One day he decides that enough is enough and takes matters into his own hands. Soon Teddy is brushing his own hair, buttoning his own coat, and even making his own breakfast. As Teddy's confidence grows, he becomes ever more ambitious. What could possibly go wrong?
Narrated in the first person in Simon Philip's uniquely appealing picture book voice and with hilarious illustrations by Ella Okstad, this is a funny and mischievous story that will resonate with both children and their parents.

'Let me do it' is a phrase heard by every parent and said by every child at some point as they develop their independence. This humorous story follows what happens as Teddy starts to do more for himself. The mess and havoc that is caused will be relatable for adult and children alike.
Let ME Do It! would be a great discussion starter to talk about what is and is not appropriate to do by yourself, when is it ok to ask for help and what could have happened if help wasn't sought! I would be careful not to read this with children who might get ideas about cutting their own hair or grooming the dog!
Definitely a book to have in your KS1 book corner and library. It will find a place in the heart of many young children. The illustrations are simple but effective in portraying the chaos and emotion of success and pride.

Teddy is not a baby anymore but his family still fuss over him so one day he decides to do everything himself - what could go wrong? This is a good concept to explore, and one that families with toddlers in will all relate to... I do have some reservations that some of the content (like cutting his own hair!) could inspire that in little readers but it's also a good discussion point for 'why that is one thing you shouldn't do yourself!'
The ending of Let ME Do It! is lovely, when teddy realises that a bit of fussing is actually quite nice and that he does need help with somethings too. The illustrations are fun, my five-year-old enjoyed them and the story is very easy to follow.
