Mo wakes up in the morning and has breakfast with his Mama, but he really wants the mangoes which he can see in the tree - but the monkeys have the mangoes! In the mischief and mayhem they cause, the adults can't find Mo, who is happy eating mango with a new friend!

Playing on the traditional alphabet book set up of 'M is for . . .' this delightful book explores all the things which 'm' stands for in Mo's daily life. Although the text is simple, the illustrations offer plenty of details to enjoy and discuss. Mo's obvious enjoyment of mango might tempt little readers to try some new foods, not just mangoes, but also the moi moi which Mo eats with such relish for breakfast!

Although this is perfect for sharing at home, teachers would also enjoy using M is for Mango when introducing or exploring the letter 'm' with a class. Not only does it offer a great range of words starting with the 'mmm' sound, it offers a vibrant West African setting to discuss. The story could also inspire classes to create their own 'M is for . . .' books and perhaps illustrate them.
