National Trust: A Story of the Seasons is a timeless treasure.  At first sight it is beautiful, with its matt, embossed hardback cover detailed with colourful, delicate illustrations.  Upon opening this book, the reader learns that we follow different habitats across the year, finding out how each one changes with the seasons. These habitats include the woods, ponds, meadows, rivers, parks, mountains and the coast so there is a familiar environment for every reader, as well as perhaps some less known ecosystems.

While the writing is suitable for fluent readers, the facts and nature stories are accessible to all and will inspire both young and old to get out and see the world for themselves!  My daughter and I plan on reading it season by season.  After reading about Autumn in the park, we have both added 'see a marvellous murmuration' to our bucket list!

The illustrations are stunning, calming yet enchanting, so much so that this has become our coffee table book which will be out on display for the foreseeable future.  We recommend this book to everyone, of all ages.
