Synopsis

Three years ago, Hannah's best friend Danny vanished without trace.

Not knowing if he's alive or dead, she struggles to move on with her life...until suddenly, impossibly, Danny is found. But instead of closure, the discovery brings a wave of secrets and suspicion. Is Hannah willing to expose the painful truth? Or is it better to live in the dark?

Reviews

Lorraine

When Danny Geller goes missing unexpectedly at the age of thirteen his family never give up hope of finding him and three years later he reappears, older, taller and very different from the young boy that disappeared. His best friend and neighbour, Hannah, cannot reconcile this new Danny with her old friend, even though problems had appeared in their relationship before his disappearance. Other friends, his younger sister and dog all encounter problems with the new Danny and it becomes apparent that all might not be as it seems.
I found this book slow, tedious and extremely predictable. The scene setting before Danny reappears is drawn out and loses the readers interest as we are almost halfway through the book before Danny is found. Even with glaring clues and strange behaviour no one suspects anything is wrong and I found this hard to believe and frustrating as it is very obvious to the reader that something is wrong. There is a twist in the tale at the end but even this is hinted at all the way through with the ending a little too easy. Not one that I would recommend.
