Pablo & Jane And The Hot Air Time Contraption

I'm not sure how I feel about this book; initially I felt that it would be great for reluctant readers; every page is fast paced with dynamic pictures and the story has an exciting plot that follows Pablo and Jane as they go off to explore 'The Old House on the Hill', stumbling upon a 'hot air contraption' that then takes them around the world. After a few pages in, however, I lost the sense of the story... it became a bit over stimulating - which is possibly a positive for young readers who like action-packed books. In the middle of this book are some 'where's wally'-style pages, with a checklist of things to find in each setting. This is a nice touch - it gives a linear story a bit more excitement and could be really motivating for children who don't enjoy spending time with a book. This book would be a good buy for reluctant readers, or children who enjoy cartoons and comics.
