Synopsis
Patrick and Flippa are best friends-they love watching clouds together. Every day, Flippa dives for their dinner and makes sure that Patrick's tummy is full of fish . . . so why does he always have that empty bear feeling? Is it because Flippa's always in charge? We have all had that friend who wants to be in control, but Flippa tries to do this by telling Patrick a lie which leaves Patrick feeling empty.
Patrick and Flippa is a wonderful way to spark conversations about friendship and reliance on one another. Flippa finds that there is more fun in fishing with his friend than for his friend, and that friendship is stronger when both people want to be friends rather than needing to each other to survive. There is humour and emotion throughout this story. It is beautifully illustrated with clear colourful images and the language is chosen carefully to ensure the meaning is clear.
This endearing story is going to become a favourite in so many houses and book corners. With wonderful characters and a wonderful message, this is a must-read picture book.
