Quiet is the stunning picture book about Little Bird 'with a bright blue flash on one wing' and how their small voice makes the biggest change. When in a world of noise and chaos, one person listens, a big change and an even bigger problem can be prevented!
Little Bird can hear what no one else can in the woods, and goes to investigate. When he sees a big machine with saws and a roaring engine, he knows he needs to save the day! However, with one voice so small and quiet - can he do it?
The story not only touches on the changes one voice can make when standing up for what is right, but also tackles the subject of deforestation and the cutting down of trees and, subsequently, the loss of animals' homes and habitats.
The story has raised lots of questions from the children I shared it with and will be a real addition to the bookshelf. Quiet is heartwarming and beautifully written, giving a voice to the quieter characters and showing that it doesn't matter how big or small, loud or quiet, you are; you can make a difference.
I think the message is beautifully delivered in Quiet and I can't wait to share this one with a wide range of ages.
