Reviews

Linda

Rise of the School for Good and Evil is a wonderful book and is the prequel, the beginning of the journey in the amazing series, The School For Good and Evil. It gives the reader an insight as to how the school was created and how our familiar fairytale characters came about... Twin brothers, Rafal and Rhain are the chosen School Masters, one evil, one good. They choose the students that enter their school, train and prepare them for their future fate.

This fate is in the hands of the Storian, which is a magical pen that writes the characters into the fairytales it creates. However, as in all good fairytales, things are not that simple and something happens that changes the balance between the two brothers.   Who will survive this change and rule the school?

This well written fantasy adventure is full of twists and turns, unexpected events and well known characters from childhood. The author is so good at his craft that he makes the reader question What is good or evil? He really makes you wonder who's good or evil in our popular fairytales!

The book is totally suitable for the 11+ reader, book clubs and intervention groups. The whole series is so well worth the read. You would think that due to its fairytale origins that it would be for readers of a very young age, but you would be greatly mistaken, as the stories are quite sinister in some places! It's also soon to be a series on Netflix in November. An easy recommendation that deserves shelf space in all libraries.
