What a fantastic read for all of those who are fans of classic science fiction. Roswell is an 11-year-old America boy, named after the so-called alien crash of 1947 in a town of that name. He has grown up with a fascination for space, thanks to his father who had told him tales of seeing space craft during his earlier life; however, his father died in Afghanistan and Roswell now lives on their farm with his grandparents.

Then one night, Roswell is accidentally kidnapped by a group of aliens, but before they can return him to earth, they are all captured by an evil race of Reptiloids. If you add to the mix a billionaire called Eli Rump and the leader of another planet who is a Trekkie, then you begin to get the picture about this totally quirky and hilarious story.

Mixed in this rip-roaring adventure we have some quite serious issues being raised; these vary from looking after our environments, to how we treat those that we see as different from or inferior to ourselves. In the book, it is about Cyborg rights, but we can translate this to include a huge range of people who have to fight to have equality within our culture.

Roswell Johnson Saves the World! is a really superb story that looks at how friendships can develop and how individual strengths combine to create great teams. It is a great addition to the science fiction genre that seems to be having a resurgence.
