Synopsis

The Past can haunt you...   A mysterious boy, Echo, entices sixteen-year-old Liv to play an increasingly dangerous game, in this unnerving supernatural thriller, From the award-winning author of the SLATED and CIRCLE trilogies, Teri Terry.

Liv can't get on with her own life - not as long as the ghost of her twin sister, Molly, who died at birth, has been her constant companion: she is always there, a part of her that no one else can see or hear.  Liv meets a boy called Echo, who is searching for the truth about his mother's death, and despite Molly's concerns, Liv is drawn to him. Echo believes that if he can just speak to his mother's ghost, he will finally learn the truth about what happened to her and be able to move on with his life.

But he believes the way to reach her is through fear: to scare himself enough to lift the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead. Echo and Liv begin an increasingly dangerous game that tests their greatest fears: but how far is Echo willing to go to uncover the truth? And will Liv trust her senses... before it's too late?

Scare Me is the new supernatural thriller from the award winning YA author, Teri Terry and trust me when I say, this author's imagination will have you on the edge of your seat once again...

16-year-old Liv has a secret, the ghost of her twin sister, Molly, who died at birth, has been her constant companion. She is always there, a part of her that no one else can see or hear. On a visit to her sister's gravestone Liv meets a mysterious boy, Echo, who entices her to play an increasingly dangerous game in order for him to contact his dead mother. Echo believes he needs to find out the truth of her death so that he can move on with his life. How far is Echo willing to go to uncover the truth? Will Liv trust her senses and Molly's fear of the boy before it's too late?

Scare Me will totally immerse the 13+ reader who loves a good ghost story. The chapters are short and fast-paced, alternating between Liv and Echo's point of view, making it a good choice for intervention groups and book clubs as there are many opportunities for discussion around the subject of the supernatural.

I always enjoy this author's work as she knows how to keep her target audience engaged in the plot. This book is no exception as it has well developed characters, humour and a great twist halfway through that I didn't see coming. This is an easy recommended read for 2023, especially for the dark nights around Halloween.
