Meet class 2L. These kids are excited. It's 'show and tell' day and everyone is invited. The idea of this story is simple yet very effective. Playing on the fond memories of show and tell day, it sees the children of class 2L try to out do each other with their contributions in the hope of winning the prize. We get off to a simple start: a single sunflower seed. But that is as simple as we get. Before too long, the children are outdoing each other with everything from blue pasta to magic lamps to even some of the most famous landmarks in the world. Everyone is adamant they have done enough to win the prize and eventually Mr Lumsden, the class teacher, reveals the worthy winner. The story ends with a heartwarming message to take away which adds to the joy of this book. As a fan of Rob Biddulph, I was very excited to read this text and it did not disappoint. The illustrations are wonderful and really add to the child-like charm of the story. I can't wait to share this book with my class of Y2s in the new school year and believe it will stem a lot of imaginative conversation. A worthy addition to any library or book shelf.
