Small in the City is a book of few words but still delivers a heartwarming and touching tale. Being small in a big city can be intimidating and scary. It can make you feel lost before you have even begun but this book reassures you that even in the most scariest places, there are areas of light and of hope. That there are always places you can go to make you feel like you can go on and find yourself where you want to be. Sydney Smith has done a fantastic job of luring you into the story through the wonderful illustrations that speak the words that are missing. I feel that this book could be used during guided reading lessons in school as there are opportunities to work on children's inference and prediction skills.
