Phoenix Brothers by Sita Brahmachari focuses on the lives of a pair of Iraqi teenagers, Amir and Mo, who have fled their homeland, due to war. It emphasises the importance of their friendships and the community in helping the two boys navigate their new lives, and heal from the unthinkable experiences of their younger years.

Phoenix Brothers will undoubtedly make a great tool for helping younger readers to understand why people go to such extremes to come to the UK in search of safety. It sensitively covers some of the more complex issues such as displacement and the impact of trauma, making it a valuable resource for any classroom.

This book is a quick, yet emotional read, with the text in large, clear print. An ideal choice to encourage discussion and support learning about refugee status. A powerful read for children and adults alike.
