This Bookshop Cat follows how a cat who loves reading finds an ideal job in a bookshop. However, tragedy strikes one day and the bookshop is flooded! The staff at the bookshop work to save the books, but then find they've been forgotten about and must find a way to get the local children back to the books!

The story is charming and exciting; it has lots of different lessons it - the importance of being you, how we all like different things and how successful we can be when we work together. It's easy to follow but has enough content to be interesting and engaging.

The language used is well chosen and has good structure - using a variety of different words and punctuation, making it a good book for use in the classroom too.  The illustrations beautifully support the text, there is so much to look at on every page. They're a great tool for building inference skills and for keeping younger readers engaged.

We've enjoyed it at home as a bedtime story and it's one that my little one keeps choosing to read during the day too!
