Synopsis

The fierce, feminist and gloriously romantic new Greek myth re-imagining from the Sunday Times bestselling author of Girl, Goddess, Queen.

Love caused this war. At least, that's what the stories will say.... When Cassandra's patron god, Apollo, offers her the gift of prophecy - and all the power that comes with it - she seizes the opportunity. But when she fails to uphold her end of the bargain, she discovers just how very far she has to fall. No one believes her visions, which all seem to be of one girl - a girl who is going to start a war.

Helen fled Sparta in pursuit of love - but is finding it elusive. Now she must navigate the fierce politics and danger of the Trojan court - including from its princess, who seems intent on driving her from the city. . .

But when war finally strikes, Cassandra and Helen must deal with more than just the army at their walls. Cassandra and Helen's fates are more closely tied - and seemingly tragic - than they could have ever imagined. How can you change your future when the gods themselves are dictating your demise?

'Thrumming with rivals-to-lovers friction and delicious slow-burn pining, The End Crowns All is a vibrant and romantic sapphic reimagining of the fall of Troy' Laura Steven, bestselling author of The Society for Soulless Girls.

The End Crowns All is a beautiful re-telling of the Trojan Horse myth, told from the perspective of two women - a perspective which is often forgotten in history. The way Bea Fitzgerald re-writes the myth for women contrasts with the misogynistic undertones that Greek myths are renowned for.

The first women is Cassandra, princess of Troy. The novel starts with her constantly having to search for ways to gain respect and power from her society and family, due to the fact she is a women. This leaves her to turn to the help of Gods; she swears herself to Apollo so she never has to swear herself to a man. As much as this helps her it also creates major disadvantages for her, which lead her on a trail to Helen - the famous one.

Helen of Troy is the second woman and from her we learn how being seen as beautiful can sometimes be a curse. Her life circulates around the way she is seen; she had to learn from a young age how to manipulate others, and for her own safety, men.

The two women are brought together through conflict and scramble through the pages to survive. I was addicted and couldn't stop reading this; I would recommend The End Crowns All to anyone interested in Greek myths. If you enjoy this I definitely recommend Bea Fitzgerald's other novel 'Girl, Goddess, Queen' a myth that is told from the perspective of Persephone.
