Synopsis

Join Bella, Archie and Shazmin as they help each other to feel good and face their worries.  Bella couldn't be feeling worse about it being Feeling Good Week at school. With her best friend Rosh having moved away she's sad and lonely, and to top it all she has a Big Worry on her mind - the class talk. Then Bella's partnered with Shazmin and Archie and is surprised to see the shoots of a new friendship growing. They even form The Feeling Good Club to share their problems and express their feelings. But when Shazmin and Archie try to help Bella with her Big Worry, things go badly wrong. How can Bella show her new friends how she feels?

The first in a fresh new series of accessible stories told in journal format, highlighting the benefits of mindfulness activities and sharing your feelings.

Reviews

Lucy

The Feeling Good Club is set out like a journal, belonging to the main character Bella. It starts by introducing her with some information about her including her best friend, her hobbies and favourite food. The journal follows Bella day by day, telling the reader about her day, the feelings she experiences and the events which led to those feelings. It's written in a very informal, chatty style which I think children will relate to well. It also has some humorous illustrations throughout which I think children will enjoy.

I like how the book is very focussed on feelings and opening up to talk about your own feelings; this is a huge focus with children at the moment. It might help some children to think about their own feelings and why they are feeling a certain way, opening up channels of communication to talk about this with either a friend or an adult. It shows that Bella has a range of feelings each day which completely normal and is another important message to get across to children.

At the end of the book, there's a section of mindfulness activities which children can have a go at themselves. A good book to have on any classroom or bedroom bookshelf to help children to learn about and start talking about their own emotions.
