The Night Billy Saved Christmas is a charming story of a little boy who saves Christmas in the most bizarre way! The story starts on a snowy Christmas Eve, when Billy is helping his Dad, a balloon artist to sell his balloon animals. When a gust of wind blows calamity ensues and Billy and Dad are swept off on an adventure through all manner of places and meet the most interesting man in red and white…! When Billy realises he can help to make a change, he jumps at the chance and saves Christmas for all the children.
I thought this was a lovely, funny story and a great addition to the Christmas bookshelf. The illustrations by Patrick Corrigan are beautiful and full of character, bringing the story to life. I especially enjoyed the pull-out page to show the enormity of the tale and mix things up. I am looking forward in sharing this picture book with my class and older children in the school.
