Synopsis
When a shy little girl spots a mysterious tiger's tail swishing in the shadows, she decides to follow it into the heart of the jungle. With every step, she grows in confidence, shedding her doubts and discovering an inner adventurer, until she finally comes face to face with the tiger himself...
A tender story of courage and self-esteem, encouraging little ones to tame their fears and reminding them that bravery doesn't always have to roar - it can be as gentle as a whisper. This uplifting picture book is perfect for shy or sensitive children, combining reassuring words with gorgeously illustrated peek-through pages, including a very special pop-up surprise.

A glimpse of a tiger's tale through the window tempts a very shy little girl to leave her room and venture outside. The further she follows, the wilder she grows until, at last, she comes face to face with a tiger and learns to roar.
The Tiger Child is a gentle story which encourages children to be brave in their own way. The illustrations in the book are really lovely and there are peep through slots, fold out pages and a 'surprise' pop-up to engage and delight readers. Soft colours seem to emphasis the little girl's shyness, as she draws attention in her bright yellow dungarees. Her instinct to hide away when faced with something new is one which many children will relate to and yet, having been tempted by a whisper on the wind, she embarks on a wonderful adventure, finding her inner tiger and being brave.
The story is perfect for sparking discussions about what being brave might look like in different people and at different times and perhaps helping shy children to develop strategies for summoning some courage!
